My time at TJX took my well rooted foundation in LP and built up from that my observation, investigation, coaching, customer service, and apprehension skills. The environment was ripe for learning. I would recommend TJX to anyone looking to grow in the retail LP field.
This position differed from working LP at Pathmark. TJX promotes high engagement everyday. As an LPD, in addition to working on shrink checklists and being responsible for internal and external case productivity, I participated in new hire orientations by introducing the the new hires to the LP department. I would explain the definition of shrink, how shrink occurs, and how we do our investigations (similar to the way W-Z goes through these explanations). I even had exhibits to show them (foil-lines booster boxes). Eventually I joined the Metro Impact Team, but after some time, the team was eventually dissolved. As soon as I returned to my local district stores, I began building a case on a couple out of the Atlantic City that would travel to all of our stores in NJ from AC up through Central NJ stealing mainly purses and underwear. During a live surveillance, they entered our location in central NJ and boosted $2300+ worth of merchandise. Great job by PD waiting for the suspects to exit. I was able to make the apprehension outside the store, then PD rolled up in cars from 3 different directions. 10 out of 10, would do it again.

Overall, I enjoyed my time with TJX and would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to progress their LP career. I had a chance to collaborate with the Marmaxx National Task Force. I learned how they put cases together; the amount of documentation and research they need to be able to articulate to the prosecuting authority was quite enlightening. It really shapes the way I currently look at shoplifting and the ORC problem.
As a Metro Impact Team member, I was 1 of several Marmaxx(TJ Maxx and Marshalls) LP Detectives who's function was to apprehend and assist in the prosecution of individuals involved in Organized Retail Crime. We did this through the gathering of intelligence with the support of the Marmaxx National Task Force to aid in the identification and building of investigations, which lead to the apprehension of Organized Retail Crime groups. We followed groups from Long Island, NY to St. Davids, PA. All throughout NJ, NY, and Eastern PA, we had a tight network. 1 case in particular, that I was involves with, resulted in a store associate getting caught completing refunds as the cashier, working in concert with an ORC group.

This group was a pilot in our area and eventually the Metro Impact Team dissolved.
